A New Photo In Our Home Page Slideshow

This great new picture on the home page slideshow is by Mark Patiky: Photographer, Aviator, Aviation Journalist, Editor, Travel Writer.

During my interviews with Lee Krasner, her friends and family, I had the great pleasure of meeting Mark Patiky who had a photo session with Lee Krasner in 1969.  He was a fashion/celebrity photographer for GQ at the time, having done profiles on Dick Cavett, Miles Davis and more.  His sister, Frances Patiky, was Lee’s nephew Ron’s wife and had a career in fashion, having held editorial positions at Glamour, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

Lee needed a head shot for a poster announcing an exhibition coming up at the Reese Palley Gallery in San Francisco and invited Mark to come to East Hampton for the photo session.

While many professional photographers had taken photos of both Lee and her husband, Jackson Pollock, including Hans Namuth, no one was allowed the opportunity to document her at work.

These exciting portraits “in motion” will be included in my upcoming book, “Lee Krasner: The Swing of the Pendulum. “
