What a wonderful week this has been since arriving in Rome. I’ve been taking lots of pictures and here are just a few:
Left: The front door at the American Academy in Rome. This is a glorious building by McKim Meade and White. Half of it houses Fellows, like myself, and half a huge library-one of the best in the world for classical art studies.
Middle: The interior courtyard of this magnificent building.
Right:The garden used by the chef to make our wonderful meals-a la Alice Waters directions! They have invited me to help in the kitchen next Sat am. Oh boy!
Below: Left: Lunch is served! We made the most delicious biscuits with butter and cream cheese-a Martha Stewart recipe! Then topped them with a gravy and sausage mixture. All the vegetables were from the garden-as per Alice Waters.
Middle: The chalk board has the menu line up for lunch! Unbelievable!
Right: Great experience! I cooked!
This first week in Rome has been extraordinary! Below are a few pictures from a day trip to gardens outside of Rome with American Academy Fellows. It was a beautiful day!
